Uruguay is working on pilot plan for the admission of people to shows

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Government of Uruguay is working on creating a pilot plan to allow vaccinated people to enter different types of public shows, and that those who are not inoculated can take a quick test to attend.

This was explained Tuesday, May 18, by the President, Luis Lacalle Pou, who spoke to the press at the exit of one of the events he attended on the occasion of the National Army Day celebration 210th anniversary of the Battle of Las Piedras.

“It is not that a person who has not been vaccinated cannot enter. In this study that is being done, whoever does not have the vaccines and has complied with the immunization process will have to go with a test,” the president stressed.

He added that many event and party organizers would be “heading for this process” because it will mean more public, while he emphasized that this will give the State the peace of mind that all those who go to such a place will be taken care of.

According to Lacalle Pou, the idea is that people take the test in a pharmacy, and the results are uploaded into a system. Then, they will have a time limit to be able to enter a show.

He also pointed out that it is unknown when the measure will be implemented, but he made it clear that the sooner it happens, the better.

On the other hand, the president highlighted the importance of the progressive return to classes that are taking place in Uruguay and pointed out that some of the measures that are in force to stop the advance of the pandemic could cease.

In line with this, Lacalle Pou said that gyms should reopen their doors from his point of view because “sport is health”. However, he stressed that this is a personal vision and has not yet discussed it with his ministers.

The President of Uruguay went to the Army General Command on Tuesday and then went to Las Piedras, located 30 kilometers north of Montevideo, where he participated in the events to commemorate the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Las Piedras and the National Army Day.
