Meanwhile Jimmy Eat World, best known for their hit song ‘The Middle’, will play as the supporting act.

“We love it. Always had so much fun [in Rio],” Halliday said. “Brazilian audiences know how to have a good time. We have always felt very welcome too.”

Adding, “We’re here for two days only, we wish could spend more time seeing the sights. But I love the beach and you’ve got some pretty nice ones, so I’ll be enjoying that.”

The following evening will see American alternative rock group Cage The Elephant headline at Circo Voador. The group, whose influences include Pixies and Nirvana, are best known for tracks including ‘Shake Me Down’, and will be joined by indie rock group Silversun Pickups.

Tickets are available online or from Circo Voador’s box office, starting from R$120 and stretching up to R$180. The two evenings of music, run by entertainment group Queremos! in partnership with Heineken and Circo Voador, will also offer a double ticket for both evenings of music for R$240.
