Twenty High-Demand Jobs in Brazil During Coronavirus Pandemic

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With the novel coronavirus pandemic spreading rapidly throughout Brazil, many professionals fear losing their jobs or face difficulties in finding a new one.

However, contrary to this belief, Glassdoor (formerly LoveMondays), a recruitment website that compiles job opportunities, has noticed that some specific sectors and areas have increased demand for new professionals.

According to Glassdoor’s study, the vast majority of positions are related to health, logistics, and trade, but there is also work in customer service and telemarketing.

With the quarantine imposed in a large part of Brazil, the demand for professionals linked to the internal logistics of cities, such as delivery companies and motorcycle delivery services, has also increased.

According to the platform’s figures, medical doctors are the professionals with the greatest demand at this time. On Glassdoor’s website, there are over 12,000 openings for this position.

According to the platform’s estimates, the average monthly salary of a doctor in Brazil is R$10,000 (US$2,000). The salary projection is based on payments and benefits data sent to Glassdoor confidentially by employees in the position.

Health professionals registry

In addition to the private sector, where Glassdoor’s activities are focused, last Thursday, April 2nd, the Ministry of Health said it intends to register five million health professionals who could work throughout the country to fight the novel coronavirus.

According to reports from the Ministry, these professionals’ registration is intended to “assist the managers of the Unified Health System (SUS) in the actions to tackle Covid-19” and is part of the strategic action “Brazil is counting on me – Health Professionals”.

Although the measure is of an emergency nature, the registered professionals can be part of a future recruitment plan to work in SUS. The Ministry explains that this first moment is not, as of yet, an immediate summons, but rather the preparation of a workforce that may potentially be used if necessary.
