TV and WhatsApp are the most used information channels in Brazil

TV leads as the media most frequently used by Brazilians to get informed.

According to data from Marco communication agency, obtained by Poder360, 73% of those interviewed in the country attribute grades from 7 to 10 (extremely important) to this means of communication.

WhatsApp comes right behind, with 72%. Instagram came in 3rd place, with 68%. It was followed by online newspapers (61%), while printed newspapers ranked 11th (15%).

“The survey helped measure how much the pandemic influenced critical societal changes.

“Whether through consumption habits, the way people access information, or the growing concern with social and environmental responsibility of the brands that impact them daily,” says Douglas Meira, Marco’s Head of Latin America and Country Manager for Brazil.

88.2% of Brazilians agree that the covid-19 pandemic has transformed them as people. The survey shows changes in consumption habits caused by digitalization, accelerated by social distancing and studies and work in hybrid mode.

The perception, however, changes according to the income bracket. Among those who earn over R$100,000 (US$19,000) per year, 100% consider that covid-19 has transformed them as people.

The percentage drops to 89% among those earning between R$20,000 and R$100,000 yearly. For those who make less than R$20,000 annually, the percentage is 82%.

The study also showed that 90% of Brazilians consider it extremely important that brands and companies promote diversity. There are 93% who make the same evaluation with respecting the environment.

The survey “Marco: the behavior of the post-covid consumer” by Marco communication agency interviewed 14,200 people from 14 countries in different regions, with various income and age brackets, at the end of the first half of 2022.
