The Kooks to Play Vivo Rio Arena this Sunday, May 13th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – British band The Kooks will be playing the Vivo Rio Arena this Sunday, after having played São Paulo’s Espaço das Américas on Saturday. The bestselling group are visiting Brazil as part of a world tour for their ‘best of’ album, entitled ‘The Best of…So Far.’

The Kooks have been revisiting a lot of their earlier material when preparing for their world tour, so fans of the British band can expect to hear a set packed with the hits that made them so successful in the early 2000s, including ‘Sofa Song,’ ‘She Moves in Her Own Way,’ and ‘Naive,’ as lead singer Luke Pritchard recently revealed in an interview with Oneonone music.

“It’s more of a celebration, really. We get to do some really great touring without having the pressure of having to do a new record, and the people coming out to the shows know that they’re going to hear the songs they want to hear.” Fans of recent hit-filled concerts in Rio de Janeiro such as Phil Collins, Foo Fighters or Radiohead won’t be disappointed.

However, the band also recorded a few new songs for the release of the compilation album, as the leader singer explained, “We really wanted to do something that would complement the Best Of… album, so we went back to three chords and some ‘da da da’s and just took it from there, really!” so attendees can also expect a few surprises.

Sunday promises to be a special performance, as in another recent interview, Kooks bassist Pete Denton revealed Rio to be one of the band’s all-time favorite places to play. He said, when asked about the most insane place they’ve visited on tour, “Oh, we had a few – for both good and bad reasons. But Brazil was pretty amazing, Rio especially, with its real carnival atmosphere.”
