Soybean planting advances to 67% of the area in Brazil’s Paraná state

The planting of soybeans has reached 67% of the area estimated for the crop 2022/23 in Paraná, advancing 23 percentage points in a week supported by weather, which brought the work to a higher level than the same period in previous years, reported the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) on Tuesday, November 1.

The agency linked to the state government did not provide data for comparison with last year, but in 2020 the soybean planting was at 61% at the end of October and, in the two previous years, at 65%.

“The last seven days showed favorable weather in the state; with this, the planting of soybeans reached 67% of the estimated area of 5.7 million hectares,” said Deral analyst Edmar Gervásio.

“In the week, more than 1.3 million hectares were planted, recovering the producer’s planning and bringing some normality to this year’s harvest,” he added.

The quality of soybean crops went from 96% good to 95% in the weekly variation, informed the Deral.

CORN AND WHEAT

For corn, the planting advanced from 82% to 91% and is heading towards the final stage with positive general conditions, said Gervásio.

According to the Deral, 86% of the areas are good.

In contrast, the wheat harvest in Paraná had an increase of nine percentage points in the week, to 72%, with 64% of the areas considered good. Last week, the crops in better condition were 63%.

The data showed that the areas assessed as bad dropped from 8% to 5%.
