Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time again for a sunset session of balearic grooves as the Rooftop Hotel of Caesar Park Ipanema hosts Rendez Vous with DJ Tee Cardaci tonight.

The rooftop area of the Caesar Park Hotel features stunning views and during the party, organizers promise tasty beverages and snacks to enjoy by the venue’s pool while DJ Cardaci spins the best of jazz, soul, disco, house and more.

It’s suggested that those interested in attending arrive early as the venue is subject to reaching capacity. Also if you get there early enough you’ll get the chance to see an incredible sunset.

Imperatior Novo Rock with Ventre and El Efecto (Méier)
The Imperator Novo Rock event returns to Imperator Centro Cultural João Nogueira tonight with bands Ventre and El Efecto performing live. Additionally during the event, DJ Wilson Power will spin during show intervals.

MV Bill (Lapa)
Brazilian rapper MV Bill will launch his newest work, Contemporâneo, live tonight at Circo Voador in Lapa. Nega Gizza and Ramonzin will join MV Bill during the show and Antiécos will open the night.

Fish Magic (Botafogo)
The post-punk/folk rock/pop group Fish Magic will make its debut performance at Audio Rebel in Botafogo tonight. Consisting of singer-songwriter and guitarist Mário Quinderé, guitarist Gordinho, bassist Nicola Pamplona, keyboardist André Saddy and drummer Henrique Ludgero, Fish Magic released its debut album entitled, Songs From the Night Shift, earlier this year in March.

Festa Baganight (Lapa)
Tonight the Teatro Odisséia in Lapa will present the Festa Baganight with bands Sakanight and Rockted performing live. Sakanight formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2005 with influences ranging from Ultraje a Rigor, Mamomas Assassinas, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd while Rockted released their first album in 2010 and are known for their contagious energy during live shows.

Dedo and Chinese Cookie Poets (Centro)
Tonight Quintavant presents the final edition of the Ocupação Audio Rebel/Quintavant series at Sala Funarte. Groups Dedo and Chinese Cookie Poets will perform live. Dedo was formed by Lacerda, Lucas Pires and Rafael Meliga and is known for their audiovisual performances that address contemporary issues. The trio Chinese Cookie Poets consists of guitarist Marcos Campello, bassist Felipe Zenícola, and drummer Renato Goody and is known for free jazz.

Tonight Bem Brasil Entretenimento will once again present the Girls Night Out party at the New Mariuzinn Copacabana. The Veneno party is back at Casa da Matriz tonight. For over ten years the weekly events, filled with good music and beautiful people, have helped start weekends early in Rio. Tonight will be no exception as DJs Tulio Araujo and Beto Artista will spin the best of rock and pop on the first floor. On the second floor tonight, DJs Theddy-O, Ricardo Abrahin, and Kleber Tuma will spin the best of EBM, post punk, dark electro and friendly fire as part of the Multiplex Fonix party.

Tonight singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Thiago Genthil will once again start the night at Rio Scenarium at 7:30 PM with the best of samba, groove, and bossa nova. Nando do Cavaco and the group Sambista will return to follow at 10:30 PM will the best of samba including their reinterpretations of works by Noel, Chico, Alcione, Martinho, and Roberto Ribeiro, among others.

It’s all about samba tonight at Lapa’s Carioca da Gema as singer Nina gets things started at 7PM. Marcos Novatto will follow at 8:30 PM and Tempero Carioca will peform at 11PM with veterans of the samba genre delivering one of the best rodas de samba in the city tonight.

The Salsa and Forró party is back at Lapa’s Leviano bar tonight and that means it’s time to dance. The group Mano a Mano will start things off at 8PM with salsa and merengue on the first floor and the group XXXXXX will perform on the second floor. Additionally, Lucas de Moraes will perform during happy hour. DJ Angolano will spin salsa and DJ Léo Araripe will spin forró during show intervals.
