Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time for the coolest jazz party in Rio tonight as The Maze Hostel brings its famous live jazz back to Catete, from 10PM.
Located in the heart of the community Tavares Bastos, The Maze, run by British artist Bob Nadkarni, is known in Rio for its eccentric architecture and stunning view of the Guanabara Bay. The Maze’s jazz night has been considered by DOWNBEAT magazine to be one of the 150 best jazz venues in the world.
Besides the jazz bands performances, resident DJs will be spinning latin rhythms, soul and funk in the intervals. At The Maze’s rooftop, one can find Hoje Tem Curry’s Indian snacks.

It’s time again for Lapafest at Leviano bar tonight. Singer Mar César will start off the night on the first floor performing a roda de samba with well-known samba classics. DJs Aílton Areas and Ricardinho will be spinning the best of samba, funk, hip hop and electronic. The band Johnny’s will also be there performing the best tracks from the international rock scene.
