Circo Voador Hosts ALTEROCK: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The second edition of the ALTEROCK Tour will make its final stop at Lapa’s Circo Voador tonight (Sunday August 18th), bringing with it American rock bands, Story of the Year and The Swellers. ALTEROCK is a festival that unites two similar bands to tour cities in Brazil and during this edition it made stops in Curitiba on August 16th and São Paulo on August 17th before coming to Rio.

This tour marks opening band, The Swellers Brazilian debut. Formed in Flint, Michigan, U.S. in 2002, the American punk band has released four full-length albums and previously opened for bands including, Less Than Jake in 2010 and Paramore during their “Brand New Eyes” tour in 2009.

Story of the Year, formed in 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S., has also released four full-length albums and played previously in Brazil. This year marked a return to touring for the rock band after a three year hiatus.

The ALTEROCK shows are part of a world tour in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the release of their first album entitled, Page Avenue. The album featured the successful singles, “Until the Day I Die” and “Anthem of Our Dying Day”.

“During the shows on this tour we’re playing our first album in its entirety,” Story of the Year lead singer Dan Marsala said in a press release, adding, “plus other songs that are favorites of our fans and some surprises too.”

The first edition of the ALTEROCK Tour took place in March of this year and featured the bands Anberlin and Dashboard Confessional.
