Brazil’s Prosecutor General’s Office opens 6 preliminary investigations into Bolsonaro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Federal Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR) has opened 6 new preliminary investigations into President Jair Bolsonaro, based on the Senate Covid CPI’s final report.

Ministers and legislators listed by the committee will also be examined for alleged crimes.

The PGR’s documents are confidential. In all, 10 requests were filed with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) last week. The documents contain allegations of criminal misconduct by 12 officials whose trials must be heard by the Supreme Court.

The reporting Justices to handle the 6 investigations have been chosen by lot. STF sources confirmed the existence of these requests. However, they did not disclose information or names.
