Paraguay completes 3,000 km of new roads enabling different logistic corridors

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Minister of Public Works (MOPC) of Paraguay, Arnoldo Wiens, emphasized that the more than 3,000 kilometers of routes enabled by the Government mean that 30 municipalities have for the first time a full-time road, allowing the establishment of road interconnectivity through strategic corridors in each Paraguayan region.

In this context, the authority pointed out that “this represents the first connection with asphalt for municipalities such as Tacuatí, Itapé, 3 de Mayo, Carmelo Peralta, among others,” in what was a mandate of the Paraguayan President to bring municipalities out of isolation.

In line with the above, the Bioceanic Road Corridor is under development in the Chaco, which already enabled its first 275-kilometer section in February 2022, from Carmelo Peralta to Loma Plata.

He noted that the following segments are in preparation, with the third and last one counting on an approved loan to conclude the route to the border with Argentina.

Another of the corridors in the Chaco corresponds to the total reconstruction of the Transchaco (which is already 70% complete), in addition to the rehabilitation of the Pozo Colorado-Concepción route and the approval of loans for the duplication of the Falcón-Remanso Route and the Ruta de la Leche (Milk Route).

Between the departments of Alto Paraná and Itapúa is the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor, which already has 150 kilometers completed between Natalio and Los Cedrales, and work is progressing on the connection with Route PY07 between Ciudad del Este and Encarnación.

Recently, the MOPC awarded the works for another corridor in Alto Paraná, which will run parallel to Route PY02 from Puerto Indio to the Itaipu Superhighway.

For northern Paraguay, work began on another agro-industrial corridor. It will run from Villa Rosario to Cruce Yakare Ñe’e, with 100 kilometers of road in the department of San Pedro.

From there, a new route is in the process to Belén, department of Concepción, which will link with asphalting to Concepción and from there to Vallemí.

“This system of routes will allow a full-time connectivity and infrastructure that represents a before and after for the communities,” highlighted Minister Wiens.
