Paraguay: a lawyer planned the assassination of a German man and his daughter
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – After two simultaneous raids in Lambaré, Jimmy Alberto Páez Giret (46), a lawyer by profession, who was disqualified from practicing law, was arrested.
The man was now arrested for being implicated in the murder of the German citizen Bernard Von Bredow and his teenage daughter last October 22 in Patiño (Itauguá).
Evidence such as valuable antique violins, important documents and large amounts of money were seized from his home. According to the prosecutor Sandra Ledezma, the home of Mr. Páez Giret was raided for having presented ‘striking’ behaviors during the investigation.

“We were struck by the insistence of this person in accompanying the victim’s sister,” she said. She also added that the suspect was closely following the investigation and they had external information that he had several documents that belonged to Von Bredow.
The house of the detainee’s mother was also raided in search of evidence with the help of Dr. Sofia Galeano, who is also investigating the case. In both operations, several evidences were seized, such as a significant amount of money in guarani and euro bills, three violins of great antiquity whose origin is unknown, and several important documents that will help in the investigation.
Agents of the public prosecutor’s office will continue with the corresponding investigation to find all the perpetrators of the double crime. A federal officer of the German police is also working on the investigation. Andrea Lezcano, who is a neighbor of Jimmy Paez, had denounced that the arrested man was shouting and intimidating other people in the neighborhood.
She had taken out a restraining order against him for verbal and psychological violence, thinking of her minor children, who feared the man. ‘He says he’s going to do what he wants because he has the money. He threatens to send his dog out to bite us and once he almost ran over my daughter,’ the mother said.
