Rio’s Explorer Bar in Santa Teresa Opens Tonight

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tonight, Thursday, December 1st, the Explorer Bar will celebrate its official opening night, bringing what promises to be a wonderful new addition to the nightlife scene in bohemian neighborhood, Santa Teresa.

Lorraine Coolidge from the U.S. is one of the founders of the Explorer Bar and has already tasted success in Rio with her immensely popular Discovery Hostel in Gloria. The founders of Discovery felt the next step was to challenge themselves into setting up the bar of their dreams.

Describing the inspiration behind their bar, the founders said in a press release, “we believe that Explorer bar, is more than just a brand or a place – its a feeling. Sophisticated, worldly, courageous. We envision a place that embodies all of our philosophies of life, a destination where people can meet and mingle and a staple in the community that stands the test of time.”

Located in laid-back and arty Santa Teresa, it is hard to imagine a better place in Rio de Janeiro that would better capture these values. The bar is set to win over both locals and tourists to the area.

“Our bar is focused on socializing, creating international cuisine in dishes – great for sharing – but most importantly we specialize in original cocktails to excite your tastebuds,” reveals Coolidge about Explorer Bar. “Not to mention our location and open air patio make wonderful spaces to lounging and talking.”

The opening night of Explorer Bar looks set to be a fun and memorable night with a show from Michell Agues, proclaimed as one of the best flair bartenders in Brazil and Latin America, and a live performance from Patuá who will get guests in the groove with lively hits of forró, samba, mpb and chorinho. There will also be a happy hour between 7PM and 8PM where all drinks will be two for one.

“Come for a romantic evening out or just to hang out and meet with friends or loved ones,” shares Coolidge. “Expect great music (sometimes a live band) and tasty food and drinks in a place so beautiful you’ll have to tell your friends.”
