Rio Inspired Holds Special Event to Support Social Projects

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tonight, Thursday, December 1st, Rio Inspired organized by Ipanema Globe will hold a special Christmas event that aims to provide fun through an unbeatable line up while simultaneously raising awareness and money for two local charities.

The event will be held at Manifesto in Leme and will include plenty of amazing artists and entertainers including the multi-talented British singer and pianist, Jeremy Goddard and the Carioca stand-up comedian, Smigol, known for his hilarious performances. There will also be live jazz and soul music as well as a raffle, promising a dynamic night with no chance of a dull moment.

Co-organizer Rachel Brabbins told The Rio Times, “We’re excited for the start of the festive season here in Rio with a fun-filled night with both local and international talent. But more importantly we’re excited about being able to give something back to the Rio community and support two incredible NGOs who work tirelessly to improve the lives of vulnerable children.”

Rio Inspired is designed to give the Rio community a fun-filled night in aid of local social community projects. After a hugely successful event earlier this year for Street Child United, this event tonight aims to raise awareness and money for two significant charities, Favela Phoenix and Infancia sem Frontiers.

Favela Phoenix is run by British-born Jody King. He set up an NGO English school for the Rocinha community which provides local residents with a free and vital education.

They hold three lessons a day, five days a week and they currently teach 120 adult students and fifty children. Funds raised at the event will go towards teaching materials; pens, notebooks etc, teachers wages and utility bills at the school in the heart of the community.

Infancia sem Frontiers is a charity run by Adriana Queiroz and they support refugee children living in Rio de Janeiro, from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In the program, children are taken on various events and activities around the city to help acclimate them to their new home.

The event starts at 8:30 PM and costs R$30 entry, which will go towards the two charities that will help underprivileged adults and children in Rio de Janeiro. Tickets can be brought online via the link on their Facebook event page.
