Olavo de Carvalho Praises Generals in Government: “It Needs to be Filled with Military Officers”
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Author Olavo de Carvalho sees no issues in the increase of the military in the first ranks of Bolsonaro’s government – last Thursday, February 13th, Bolsonaro announced General Braga Netto as head of the Ministry of the Civil House.
In an interview with O Globo newspaper, Olavo said “It needs to be filled with military officers” and that the involvement of the army is crucial in the life of the country.

“I am happy with the Army’s involvement in political and social life because the Brazilian Army, unlike the US, has no presence in society,” he said. “They live in their corner and they become timid people. Now the military is present, they are taking part in social life. I think it’s great, more military officers must be brought in, fill it up with military men”.
The author, regarded as President Jair Bolsonaro’s guru and one of his unackknowledged ministers, said that “a man from the Army in any civil position” is not performing a military role.
The author used the United States, where he lives, as an example: “Here all Presidents and all Ministers have a military career”.
