New solar park with Chinese technology inaugurated in the Argentine Córdoba province

The Villa María de Río Seco project is being developed near the city of Villa de María in Córdoba and is expected to generate 67,153 MWh when completed.

Once operational, the projects will be able to inject more than 128,000 MWh of electricity per year, enough to cover 100 percent of the needs of a city with more than 200,000 inhabitants.

The total investment for both projects was about US$78 million.

The owners hope to benefit from future commercial, tourism, and real estate development by feeding energy into the province’s electricity grid.

In terms of environmental impact, it is estimated that as a renewable, zero-emission energy source, the projects together would reduce emissions by 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).

It is estimated that this would save “more than 30 million liters of gas oil for heat generation, saving the country fuel and maintenance costs of US$13 million per year.

During the construction phase, the Cura Brochero plant created approximately 400 direct and indirect jobs.

It is expected that after commissioning, jobs will also be created in services and maintenance, which will positively impact the Córdoba region.
