Lasso plans to recover the operation of the Ecuadorian Air Force

The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, publicly expressed his concern about the fact that a large part of the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) aircraft are on the ground and suggested that he supports their update for the return to service of the units.

Already on October 27, in celebration of the 102nd anniversary of the Air Force, the president said that resources will be invested to recover the Mil Mi-171 helicopters and build a new air base in Tababela, Quito.

FLOAT ON LAND

Currently, Ecuador does not have operational availability of any of the 12 superiority fighters of the Atlas Cheetah C-III/D-III type, deactivated since 2020, and likewise only two of the 17 Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano (A -29) are flying.

The situation of the Heavy Transport Squadron is no better, since it only flies one Boeing B737-200 and none of the three B727-100s, as well as only one of the three Airbus C-295M, is currently operational.

For its part, the training wing currently has only three of its eight Grob G-120Ts and with respect to the three Viking Air DCH-6 Twin Otters, only one is operational.
