Free Screen Printing Workshops Open in Rio’s Caixa Cultural

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Taking inspiration from his current exhibition at Caixa Cultural, ‘Terra em Chamas’ (Earth in Flames) contemporary artist Vítor Mizael is going to be leading a free screen printing workshop on the evenings of June 6th through 8th (this Wednesday to Friday).
The artist, hailing from São Paulo, is currently exhibiting a collection of previously unreleased works under the title ‘Terra em Chamas’ (Earth in Flames). These works, around fifty in total, use many striking materials and techniques to explore our present day existence through a fictional representation of Brazilian flora and fauna.
Of the many techniques Mizael uses – which range from installations to figurative painting – screen printing is an integral part of his work, and from Wednesday, June 6th to Friday June 8th, the artist is inviting students and professionals in the arts, literature and related fields for a screen printing workshop from 6PM to 8:30 PM each evening.
Participants will be introduced to the techniques and procedures involved in screen printing, and during the evening they will be able to produce an art piece of their own using the skills that they have learned.
Anyone wanting to participate will have to be quick as the workshop is intended for a class of only twenty participants over the course of three days. While there, people can also check out the new film exhibition, ‘Soviet Nouvelle Vague’ and see a classic Russian film for as little as R$2.
Or they could also visit the Portinari exhibition, and see works by one of South America’s most influential artists.
