Uruguay to negotiate trade with Qatar

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a Twitter thread this Wednesday informing about the actions the portfolio has been pushing to promote Uruguay’s international economic insertion.

In this regard, based on identifying the Middle East as a “priority area and strategic region”, a Business Economic Council was established between the Chamber of Commerce of Uruguay and Qatar to enhance opportunities for “trade, investment, and bilateral economic cooperation”.

“This institutional approach with the Chamber of Qatar, raised during the recent official visit to that country of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, lays the foundations that will allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the national private sector, to explore new business and investment opportunities between both markets and respective regions”, according to the Foreign Ministry.

“In this sense, it is worth mentioning the beginning of the work for the organization of an Uruguayan-Qatari Economic Forum and a Virtual Platform for Business Meetings, to be held during the current semester”, they added.
