Bolsonaro travels to United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar in search of investments

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro traveled this Friday (12) to the United Arab Emirates, the first stop on a trip to Persian Gulf countries with a strong economic focus, which will also take him to Bahrain and conclude in Qatar.

In these three countries, Bolsonaro will be received by government authorities and hold meetings with businesspeople and investment funds to present the opportunities offered by Brazil in diverse areas of its economy.

According to the Brazilian Foreign Ministry chief of staff, Achilles Zaluar, the intention is to attract investments, especially in infrastructure, renewable energy, and agriculture, which have enormous potential and are at the center of the interests of the Persian Gulf countries.

On Monday, Bolsonaro will visit the Dubai World Expo, where a special event will be held at the Brazil pavillion and later, he will participate in a business seminar (Photo internet reproduction)

It will also promote Brazilian exports, which in the case of Arab countries are focused on minerals and food, such as chicken and beef, sugar, and corn. However, the Bolsonaro government intends to increase the supply of products with higher added value.

In the cases of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, it will be the second visit of the Brazilian president to those countries, where he went in October 2019 as part of a tour that included stops in Japan and China.

Bolsonaro will arrive Saturday (13) in Dubai, when he will be received by Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum, and on Monday, he will have an audience with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates.

Also, on Monday, Bolsonaro will visit the Dubai World Expo, where a special event will be held at the Brazil pavillion, and later, he will participate in a business seminar.

On Tuesday, Bolsonaro will spend the day in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. He will be received by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and later inaugurate the new headquarters of the Brazilian embassy in that country.

The Brazilian president will end his trip in Doha, where on Wednesday he will meet the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Zani, the Prime Minister, Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, and visit one of the stadiums where the World Cup will be played next year.

Coincidentally, on Thursday (11), the Brazilian national soccer team sealed its participation in the World Cup in Qatar with a 1-0 victory over Colombia.
