Diverse culinary, dance, music and language workshops are taking place in different venues of Centro and Zona Sul through Friday, September 29th.

Created in 2001 during the European Year of Languages, the European Day of Languages (EDL) is celebrated every 26th day of September in order to promote the continent’s linguistic diversity.

The day also aims to stimulate the development of plurilingual skills among people across the world, value less widely spoken European languages and reinforce intercultural understanding.

For the German culinary enthusiasts, September 28th, the participants learned how to make a Kässpätzle, typical pasta with from the country’s southern part. The workshop happened at the Instituto Cervantes, in Botafogo, at 11AM. The Spanish institute will also host a poetry recital and a book market from 5PM to 8PM.

Friday’s workshop presented the best of Italian cuisine to the participants, who will learn how to cook traditional dishes like the ravioli di ricotta, spinaci con burro (spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli) at Casa Momus, in Lapa.

At 6PM, the event closed with a cultural festival that included food stalls, dance presentations and music, which will also take place at Casa Momus.
