The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will pay approximately US$6,000 for each 60-minute episode of a television program in which he intends to act as an interviewer of “outstanding” characters of the country in what is supposed to be a new project to strengthen his message in the media.

The program, scheduled to be aired weekly and in prime time, imitates the trend inaugurated in the media by leftist leaders in the region.

Thus, the Venezuelan Hugo Chávez became famous at the time for starring for long days in front of the screen in his Sunday program ‘Aló Presidente’ or the radio and television networks of his country.

In the same way that more recently, the Mexican Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has become popular for leading morning press conferences.

Petro will also have an informative space to disseminate the achievements of his government.

It will be broadcast every Sunday from 7.30 pm to 8.00 pm, and its production cost will be similar to that of the talk show, around US$6,000 per episode.
