RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The President of the Republic of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, received on an official visit the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, in a meeting that highlighted the relations of collaboration, support, and integration between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the Bi-Oceanic Corridor.

Both Presidents agreed on the importance of advancing in regional physical integration, which will allow Mercosur countries to join with the ports of northern Chile. This connection will provide the opportunity to create broad economic spaces through efficient and competitive transportation networks and services.

In this context, Sebastián Piñera pointed out that “it is estimated that thousands and thousands of trucks will pass daily through this corridor to Chilean ports, bringing export products, and therefore, it is a corridor that will further strengthen the collaboration and integration of the region”.

In this line, the President of Chile indicated that “to have an integral, sustainable and inclusive development, collaboration within South America is fundamental and Paraguay currently holds the Presidency of Mercosur and the Presidency of Prosur, which gives it a tremendous opportunity to contribute to advance along these paths”.

On this occasion, the Paraguayan President received the Order of Merit Decoration, which is awarded to foreign citizens in recognition of their outstanding performance and collaboration in various fields.
