Brazil’s oil production climbs 4.6% in April over March, led by Petrobras

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil’s average oil production increased 4.6% in April compared to March, reaching 2.97 million barrels per day (bpd), the second consecutive monthly high, according to data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP).

Oil and gas combined, the country produced 3.8 million barrels of oil equivalent in April, up 4.5% compared to March and a 1.7% growth compared to April last year.

For its part, Anglo-Dutch Shell, the largest private producer in Brazil and Petrobras’ main partner in producing fields in the pre-salt deepwater fields, produced 370,788 bpd in April, up 6.3% from the preceding month but down 3% compared to April 2020.
