Brazil’s inflation has peaked and will turn into a downward trend after May – advisor to the Ministry of Economy

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Countries around the world are facing economic crises and rising inflation. According to the Advisor for Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Adolfo Sachsida, inflation in the United States is the highest in the last two years, in Germany it is the highest in the last 30 years, and England is facing the worst inflation crisis in 10 years.

These statements were made in an interview with Brasil em Pauta, a program of TV Brasil, which will be broadcast this Sunday at 7.30 p.m.

According to Adolfo Sachsida, this phenomenon also affected Brazil, which ended the year with an official inflation rate of 10.06%, well above the target, which could be as high as 5.25%. Nevertheless, the inflation rate for 2021 is below that of 2016, the consultant said.

According to Sachsida, inflation is currently at its peak, which is expected to last until the end of May, after which it will approach the target levels.

In the interview, the advisor to the Ministry of Economy also commented on the growth of Brazil’s gross domestic product (GDP), which last year was 4.6%, surpassing that of countries such as South Korea, Germany and Japan.

According to him, this was a “great victory of economic policy. According to the advisor, the result proves the “V” recovery of the economy defended by the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.

Adolfo Sachsida also spoke about the resumption of job creation. Last year, 2.7 million jobs were created. According to him, Brazilians are resuming work.

“We are talking about the biggest public health disaster in the last 100 years. In such an environment, unemployment has increased worldwide,” he said.

According to the consultant, it has already returned to pre-pandemic levels in Brazil. “All this because we have taken the right economic measures to preserve jobs,” he said.

He pointed to the emergency subsidy to maintain jobs and income, which the government uses to help companies keep workers employed, as well as credit programs.
