Chocolate Festival Comes to City of Nova Friburgo Next Weekend
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Ready your stomach and diet as of August 26th because the 9th edition of the Festival do Chocolate de Nova Friburgo (Nova Friburgo Chocolate Festival) will take place from August 23rd to 25th. The event, which last year received over 20,000 visitors in three days, takes place at the Casa Suíça (Swiss House), in the Conquista neighborhood of the city located about an hour from Rio de Janeiro.
There, the main star of the festival can be seen — and eaten — in the most diverse ways: in bars, pies, cakes, sweets in general, fondue, truffles, in milk… There will also be a food hall with food trucks, food bikes, gourmet tents, cheese & wine space, craft and special beers, in addition to a children’s park, food workshops, intimate apparel items, beach and fitness, handicraft and much more.
Tickets cost R$15 (US$4) and are now on sale.
The event also features a musical and cultural program, with Brazilian pop music shows, jazz, typical dances, circus arts, magic, and children’s theater, among other attractions. Everything is performed at three stages scattered throughout the gardens of the Casa Suíça.
In addition to the main stage, located in a large covered area, there will also be the Palco Kids (Kids Stage), on the central lawn, and the Espaço Gourmet (Gourmet Space) stage, in a reserved area with the best of street cuisine. The workshops will take place in a specially arranged auditorium.
The festival’s program has been extended this year: it ends at 9 PM every day. On Friday, the gates will open at 4 PM, but on Saturday and Sunday the event will kick off earlier, at 10 AM.
Tickets for the festival can already be purchased through the website and at the following points of sale: Trade Assessoria, Doces Sader, Mania de Brincar, FriOnline in the center of town, and Sanglard Stores in Conselheiro Paulino, Olaria, Bom Jardim, and Cordeiro. There will also be ticket sales, for the same price, at the entrance.
