RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A coalition of pilots’ associations from around the world and several medical associations issued an open letter on May 17 criticizing the de facto Covid vaccination requirement for pilots, pointing out the severe consequences.
Pilots who refused the vaccination have lost their jobs in many cases – and many of those who accepted the vaccination are struggling with side effects that acutely threaten aviation safety.
The firing of unvaccinated employees has left airlines with a massive staffing crisis. At the same time, many vaccinated pilots are now struggling with vaccine damage – including cardiovascular problems, blood clots, and neurological and auditory disorders.

The open letter states that as a result, many pilots have already lost their medical fitness certificates and may not regain them. Others, however, continue to fly airplanes – with said disorders.
They dare not report them because that would result in their licenses and income loss. This poses an unprecedented risk to passengers and all other passengers.

The letter’s authors – representing thousands of pilots and medical professionals – are urging action to restore flight safety. Vaccination requirements must be lifted, and pilots and flight attendants’ thorough and objective medical examinations are needed. Special attention must be paid to potential vaccine damage, the letter said.
