Brazil and ThyssenKrupp to start construction of first Tamandaré-class frigate in September

With this project, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems aims to go beyond the construction of frigates for the Brazilian Navy and enable the construction of defense vessels for customers throughout South America in Itajai, Santa Catarina state.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Construction of the Brazilian Navy's first Tamandaré-class frigate will begin next September.

This is according to a visit by the Commander of Naval Operations, Fleet Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, to the facilities of the Brasil Sul shipyard, which was acquired by the German company ThyssenKrupp in 2020, where he was able to see the status of work ahead of the construction of the first ship.
