RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – An important Jair Bolsonaro aide heard by Radar confirmed that the President has given up appointing Carlos Alberto Decotelli to head the Ministry of Education.
“The President is now looking for a new name for the Ministry. Unfortunately, the conclusion is that we can’t proceed with Decotelli. If he lies in the curriculum, he can lie about everything. Trust is crucial,” says anonymously a Minister from the Planalto Palace.
The next name will be scrutinized more carefully by the Planalto, which failed to conduct more thorough research on Decotelli’s résumé. According to the Minister, Bolsonaro will keep the technical criteria in the choice.
Update, 8:31 PM – After announcing the decision not to appoint Decotelli to his closest aides, Bolsonaro used the networks to post a reparation to the Minister, in a mysterious tone. Decotelli himself said that he would stay, after the conversation. However, sources in the Planalto maintain he will not be appointed. Bolsonaro remains silent.
