Brazil exports 1 kg of meat per inhabitant of the planet
A major global supplier of food, Brazil exported the equivalent of almost 1 kilogram of processed meat per inhabitant of the planet in 2022. The number appears in a survey carried out by Revista Oeste this Tuesday, 10, with data from the federal government.
Adding beef, pork and poultry proteins, Brazil exported 7.5 million tonnes of meat in 2022. Considering the world population estimated by the United Nations (about 8 billion people), the amount corresponds to about of 950 grams per inhabitant, that is, almost 1 kilo for each inhabitant of the planet.
In terms of quantity, poultry was the flagship, with just over 4 million tonnes. In all, shipments from this sector generated almost US$8 billion for the country and guaranteed the second position in revenue for exports of processed meat.

The first place in revenue went to beef. The collection with this item was close to US$12 billion. The volume shipped was close to 2 million tonnes. Thus, the price per tonne approached US$6,000 — the highest unit value among the three types of protein.
In the mix, only the pork product did not surpass the results of the previous year, remaining practically stable in terms of quantity shipped and registering a drop of almost 3% in revenue. However, considering the average formed by the three types of proteins, the sector grew.
Adding chicken, beef and pork, the increase reached 33% on the quantity shipped and approached 10% for billing. Thus, government data show that the market for meat exports from Brazil has grown over the past year.
