RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Despite the end of mask mandates by several Brazilian states and municipalities, it is still compulsory for the circulation in airports and boarding on aircraft, according to the Brazilian National Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa).

In airport areas where access is not controlled (such as airport lobbies and parking lots), the use of face masks must follow the recommendations of local authorities.

However, in the controlled-access areas of airports, entry by travelers and employees should follow the face mask requirement. According to the regulatory agency, because of the intense transit of people of different origins, with different epidemiological profiles, transmission rates, and vaccination coverage.
