Bolivia improves infrastructural connections with Peru, Brazil, and Chile
The Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC) invested more than US$335 million in constructing five new roads and four bridges in the department of La Paz, infrastructure that would allow a better international connection with Peru, Brazil, and Chile.
In this context, the manager of ABC Regional La Paz, Luis Tejeda, commented that “with the construction of five new roads and four bridges with their accesses, the road patrimony is strengthened and the integration of La Paz with the departments of Cochabamba, Beni, and Pando, as well as the international connection with Peru, Brazil, and Chile advances,” mentioned Tejeda.
The investment is executed in compliance with the instructions of the President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, who announced new works in the framework of the anniversary of the department of La Paz on July 16. Each project is at a different stage according to the progress of administrative, technical, and legal management before public bidding.

In line with the above, Tejeda pointed out that each prioritized project has secured financing and prompt execution.
Among the works are the construction of the Escoma – Pacobamba and Pacobamba – Charazani roads; the Botijlaca – Caquiaviri section, which is part of the Botijlaca – Charaña road; section II of the Unduavi – Chulumani road, in the Yungas and the reactivation of the Santiago de Machaca – Hito IV section.
In addition, there are the Río Seco and Río Seque bridges in the city of El Alto; the Sacambaya Bridge that will link La Paz with the department of Cochabamba; the Mapiri Bridge in the north of La Paz; and the study for the construction of the Ixiamas – Chivé highway.
Once the works are underway, Tejeda asked transporters, authorities, and leaders of the benefited regions to accompany all stages of construction.
