The Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee announced this Friday that it would take to the streets next Tuesday, together with the Confederación de Gremiales, to demonstrate against a package of “gag” bills promoted by the Government of Luis Arce.

“We call on the citizens to demonstrate in the mobilization that will take place on Tuesday morning in the city of Santa Cruz.”

“We are all affected by these bills,” announced its leader, Fernando Larach, as the newspaper ‘El Deber’ reported.

In this sense, he urged the government to withdraw Law 280 on the strengthening of the fight against the legitimization of illicit profits, which puts in check sectors of the informal economy in Bolivia.

The Confederation of Trade Unions has already announced that it will demonstrate on Tuesday against the package.

Santa Cruz is the wealthiest region of Bolivia and historically opposed the governments of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS).

This occasion calls for demonstrations to oppose laws 280 and 305, the latter on journalistic activity.
