In plain English

Black Friday is the sales day that follows US Thanksgiving, and each Latin American country builds its own sale window around it. Mexico’s main event is a separate national sale, El Buen Fin, two weeks earlier, and in Brazil, Chile and Colombia the law lets online buyers withdraw from a purchase within a few days.

Black Friday in Latin America 2026: Dates by Country

Black Friday follows US Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday 26 November 2026, so the sales day is Friday 27 November, the fourth and last Friday of the month. Each country builds its own window around that date, and in Mexico the main event is a separate national sale two weeks earlier.

  • Brazil: Friday 27 November, with online sales counted from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November.
  • Mexico: El Buen Fin from Friday 13 to Tuesday 17 November; we found no retailer terms for 27 November yet.
  • Chile: official dates not yet published by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
  • Colombia: retail campaigns from 13 November to 2 December, around Friday 27 November.
  • Ecuador: Friday 20 November, a week early (see Ecuador Black Friday).

Longer windows are common. Chile’s 2025 event ran four days, from Friday 28 November to Monday 1 December, and the Éxito chain in Colombia is running its 2026 campaign for 20 days.

Black Friday Brazil 2026: A Four-Day Window to 29 November

VTEX reports that Neotrust, which tracks transactions at more than 7,000 partner stores, forecasts online revenue of R$13.3 billion (about US$2.65 billion) from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November, up 20.7% from R$11.03 billion (about US$2.2 billion) in the same four days of 2025. The forecast was presented to retailers in São Paulo on 13 October.

Brazilians are placing more orders but spending less on each: from January to September 2026 orders rose 34.9%, while the average ticket fell 13.4% to R$268.20 (about US$53). Appliances lead the four-day forecast at R$2.12 billion (about US$423 million), ahead of fashion at R$1.38 billion (about US$275 million) and beauty at R$910 million (about US$181 million), the fastest-growing category at 69.8%.

The sale no longer belongs to a single Friday: Neotrust’s own data show that Black Friday itself brought R$4.76 billion (about US$949 million) in 2025, up 11.2%, while all of November brought R$39.2 billion (about US$7.8 billion), up 36.2%. VTEX reports that Neotrust also projects R$3.17 billion (about US$632 million) for 11 November, which it calls the second-largest single-day concentration of sales after Black Friday.

VTEX quotes Neotrust’s head, Léo Bicalho, as saying two factors could cap the result: shoppers who already bought during other seasonal sales, and high household debt. The forecast also assumes that sales lost by financially distressed retailers are absorbed elsewhere in the market.

Brazil’s consumer code gives buyers 7 days to withdraw from a purchase made outside a shop, counted from signing the contract or receiving the goods, and the seller must refund at once with monetary correction. A 2013 decree applies this to e-commerce: the site must show its company name, its tax number where it has one, and a physical and an email address, extra costs such as delivery and insurance must be itemised in the price, and the buyer can withdraw through the same tool used to buy.

Complaints can go to Consumidor.gov.br, a federal platform that the National Consumer Secretariat, Senacon, lists among its tools. Senacon is part of the Ministry of Justice and works on national consumer policy.

Black Friday Mexico 2026: Buen Fin Comes First

El Buen Fin, Mexico’s official national sale, runs for five days from Friday 13 to Tuesday 17 November 2026, and the period includes the public holiday for the 20 November Revolution anniversary. The sale is a public-private initiative whose official portal and brand belong to the Ministry of Economy, and businesses can register to take part until 23:59 on 12 November.

In 2025 El Buen Fin sold 219.2 billion pesos (about US$11.9 billion) across stores and online, above a target of 200 billion pesos (about US$10.9 billion). Online sales were 45.9 billion pesos (about US$2.5 billion), or 21% of the total, and grew 31%.

Black Friday itself falls on Friday 27 November, but we could not confirm from any Mexican retailer’s page how the chains will mark it in 2026. Amazon’s Mexican site ran its Black Friday event from 27 November to 1 December in 2025.

Mexican online sales reached about 941 billion pesos (about US$51 billion) in 2025, up 19.2% and equal to 17.7% of retail sales, according to AMVO, the online sales association. Our El Buen Fin 2026 guide covers the rules, the prize draw and shopper protections in detail.

Black Friday Chile 2026: Dates Not Yet Published

The Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), which organises the online Black Friday event, carries a “see you at Black Friday 2026” banner on its Black Friday page but had published no dates by 21 October. A private site run by the organiser Efecto Black lists Friday 27 November.

Last year’s event, run by the chamber from Friday 28 November to Monday 1 December 2025, totalled about US$561 million in online and in-store sales from 10.5 million transactions, up 2% in nominal terms on a preliminary estimate. Online sales were 57% of the total, the highest share for the event and up from 52% a year earlier, and Friday 28 November was the biggest day, with about US$160 million or 29% of sales.

The chamber projects online sales of US$10.6 billion in Chile for 2026, a record, with real growth of about 12.2% so far this year. It puts online spending at US$525 a person for goods.

Chile’s consumer law gives buyers 10 days from receipt to withdraw from a contract made by electronic means, unless the seller has expressly said otherwise, and requires a refund within 45 days of the notice. The chamber’s guidance for its Black Inmobiliario online event advises shoppers to enter brands through the official event site, check for the padlock symbol, create accounts in advance and use virtual cards for large amounts.

Black Friday Colombia 2026: Sales From 13 November to 2 December

The Éxito retail chain is running its Black Friday 2026 campaign in Colombia from 13 November to 2 December, with discounts of up to 60% on selected products. The campaign page lists home delivery for the offers and a buy-and-collect option.

A note signed by an affiliated firm’s commercial director on the Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce’s site cites a 22.2% rise in e-commerce transactions in the first quarter of 2026. We found no 2026 Black Friday forecast from the chamber on the pages we could open.

Colombia’s consumer statute, Law 1480 of 2011, gives buyers five business days from delivery to withdraw from a distance sale, at their own cost for the return, and, for e-commerce, requires a refund within 15 calendar days of exercising the right, under an amendment by Law 2439 of 2024. The right does not cover some goods, including custom-made, perishable and personal-use items, so check the seller’s terms before you buy.

PSE, a service run by ACH Colombia, lets buyers pay by authorising a debit from a bank account through their online banking, and the banks listed on its site operate in Colombia. Visitors should ask the retailer which payment methods work with a foreign card.

How to Avoid Black Friday Scams in Latin America

Profeco, Mexico’s consumer agency, tells shoppers to set a budget and a list before buying, to read the warranty and return terms, and to keep their receipts. It also runs a price-comparison tool called Quién es Quién for El Buen Fin.

In Brazil, the e-commerce decree requires a shop to show its company name, its tax number where it has one, and its physical and email address, so a shop that hides them is a reason to walk away. In Chile, the chamber’s Black Inmobiliario guidance says complaints go first to the seller’s customer service and can then go to its Resolución en Línea platform.

What It Means for You: Shopping Black Friday in Latin America 2026 From the US

Most of these sales are run by local retailers and chambers of commerce for local shoppers, and we could not confirm from the retailers’ own pages whether the large chains accept US-issued cards, passport numbers in place of a local tax ID, or deliveries to US addresses. Check each checkout before the sale starts and create your account in advance.

Foreigners can register for a Brazilian CPF, the individual taxpayer number, online or in person at no cost through the tax authority, Receita Federal. Whether a given retailer will accept it for a foreign card is not confirmed.

Travel is the simplest way in for a US visitor. The resort group Sandos sold stays at up to 20% off in a Black Friday campaign that ran from 1 November to 2 December 2025, booked directly online or by phone, with a US$550 resort credit, and the page we opened still showed 2025 terms.

Goods you bring back are covered by a US$800 duty-free personal exemption for returning residents, which US Customs and Border Protection says can be used once every 31 days, subject to conditions. Items mailed or shipped to a US address are treated separately, so check the agency’s rules before ordering for delivery to a US address.

What It Means for Investors: How the Four Markets Compare

On online sales alone, the Neotrust forecast for Brazil of about US$2.65 billion over four days in 2026, as reported by VTEX, and Mexico’s 2025 Buen Fin online total of about US$2.5 billion over five days are of similar size. Chile’s Black Friday 2025 totalled about US$561 million across all channels, while El Buen Fin’s 2025 total of about US$11.9 billion across all channels is the largest among the events covered here.

The figures are not strictly comparable, because each organiser counts different channels and days. Brazil’s forecast rests on appliances, fashion and beauty and a falling average ticket, against a backdrop of household debt and distress at several large retailers.

Results arrive quickly. The Santiago chamber published its 2025 Black Friday total on 3 December, and Mexico’s Ministry of Economy reported the 2025 Buen Fin on 14 December.

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

Official 2026 Black Friday dates from the Santiago chamber in Chile have not been published, and the Amazon and Sandos pages we opened for Mexico still showed 2025 dates. We could not open the Black Friday warnings of Procon in Brazil, Sernac in Chile or the SIC in Colombia, and we could not confirm a statutory withdrawal window for online purchases in Mexico.

The Brazilian figures are a forecast reported by VTEX, and final totals come after the sale. Conversions use R$5.014 per US dollar (Banco Central do Brasil PTAX selling rate, 20 October) and 18.42 pesos per US dollar (Banxico FIX, 20 October), applied to 2025 amounts too, and we will update this guide as retailers and chambers publish their dates.
