Biggest Creative Conference in Latam Comes to Rio | Rio Times

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Tuesday, April 23rd, Rio’s Cidade das Artes in Barra da Tijuca will play host to four days of talks, conferences, demos and workshops as over 20,000 people are expected to attend the six-day Rio2C event.

This year is the second edition of Rio Creative Conference, or Rio2C, and after a successful debut in 2018, it has come back bigger and even better, featuring 287 panels, 1000 participating business, and over 500 speakers.

Some of the biggest names in the industry will be heading to Barra to share their knowledge of the creative industries of film, television, video games and music. On Wednesday, British creator of the hit Netflix series ‘Black Mirror,’ Charlie Brooker, will discuss innovation and creativity in audiovisual production with the series’ co-producer Annabel Jones.

Another highlight on Wednesday will be a talk on ‘Brazil in the global scenario’ featuring Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos and Brazilian actor Wagner Moura. While on the Thursday, co-founder of both SXSW music festival and The Austin Chronicle, Louis Black, will be discussing creative communities.

These are just a few of the highlights from an event that will span industries as varied and complex as neuroscience, innovation, branding, audiovisual production and music.

The organizers are keen this year to bring an even greater focus on the market for each of these industries, with a four-day business roundup that includes over 1,500 scheduled meetings.

The creator and CEO of Rio2C, Rafael Lazarini, outlined his visions for this year’s happening at São Paulo Image and Sound Museum, as reported by O Globo last November.

“Innovation is no longer innovative. The world urges a much more comprehensive vision to generate news. Rio2C is for everyone who is not comfortable and does not want to settle.” He commented.

The event will also feature two new spaces. There will be the Brain Space, focused on neuroscience and innovations in that field, plus how it crosses over into other areas such as advertising and entertainment. There will also be for the first time a Casa das Marcas, which is solely focused around the areas of branding and content.

Within this six-day event, there will also be the Festivália, held on the weekend, which will be focussed on attracting students and recent graduates as opposed to last year’s focus on families. This special festival will include Brazilian comedy troupe Porta dos Fundos, the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra, and will feature debates and workshops on figures such as JRR Tolkein, Charles Darwin, as well as fashion, the creative process, and neuroscience.

In keeping with the theme of innovation, there will also be a virtual reality and video game area, curated by XRBR and Ring, which will also feature workshops and discussions as well as four domes containing virtual and augmented reality experiences. “The 2018 event exceeded expectations and brought the challenge of doing even better this year. It will be both better and more comprehensive.” CEO of Rio2C, Rafael Lazarini, promises.
