RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Projecting investments of R$10 billion, the government will carry out this week the auction of operating concessions for 22 airports, 1 railroad and 5 port terminals.

Divided into three regional blocks, the airports will be auctioned starting at 10am at the B3 stock exchange in São Paulo. The minimum bids will be R$130.2 million for the South Block, R$47.8 million for the North Block and R$8.1 million for the Central Block.

Called by the government Infra Week, the week of auctions begins today, April 7th, with the concession of air terminals to private enterprise for 30 years. (Photo internet reproduction)

The bidders offering the highest premium over the minimum price for each block will win. The amounts – minimum bid plus premium – will be paid immediately after the auction. Starting in the fifth year of the contract, the concessionaires will have to pay the government a percentage of the revenue obtained each year until the end of the contract.

The airports of Curitiba (PR), Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Londrina (PR), Navegantes (SC), Joinville (SC), Bacacheri (PR), Pelotas (RS), Uruguaiana (RS) and Bagé (RS) are part of the Southern Block. The Central Block is composed of the airports of Goiânia (G0), São Luís (MA), Imperatriz (MA), Teresina (PI), Palmas (TO) and Petrolina (PE). The airports of Manaus (AM), Tabatinga (AM), Tefé (AM), Porto Velho (RO), Rio Branco (AC), Cruzeiro do Sul (AC), and Boa Vista (RR) are part of the North Block.

The 22 airports to be auctioned correspond to 11% of the national air passenger traffic, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). The government estimates investments of R$6.1 billion in the airports granted to the private sector, of which R$2.8 billion in the South Block, R$1.8 billion in the Central Block and R$1.4 billion in the North Block.

The terminal at the seaport of Pelotas (RS) is for general cargo, especially wood logs, contributing to the logistics chain of pulp production, and has an area of about 23,000 m².

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, port terminal concessions should result in investments of R$600 million by the private sector in modernization and improvements. The winning bid will be the one offering the highest concession value.
