Argentine police arrest 4th suspect in VP Kirchner shooting plot

Argentine police on Wednesday (14) arrested the fourth person suspected of involvement in the shooting of the country’s vice president, Cristina Kirchner.

The information comes from the newspaper Clarín.

The Argentine outlet reported that Gabriel Nicolás Carrizo led a group of cotton candy vendors that included Brenda Uliarte.

She is the girlfriend of Brazilian Fernando Sabag Montiel, who was filmed pointing a gun in Kirchner’s direction.

Forensics had access to Carrizo’s cell phone. There are conversations with Brenda one day after the attack, on Sept. 1.

According to the newspaper, the “cotton candy gang” had tried to kill the vice president on at least two other occasions.

Forensics also revealed that Montiel and Uliarte had planned another assassination attempt for Aug. 27 but could not carry it out because of the cameras in the area.

Also in prison are Brazilian Fernando Sabag Montiel, 35, his girlfriend Brenda Uliarte, 23, and Agustina Díaz, Brenda’s girlfriend, 21.

ATTACK ON KIRCHNER

Fernando Sabag Montiel had attempted to shoot the Argentine vice president on Sept. 1.

Videos on social media show a crowd of people standing outside Cristina Kirchner’s home in Recoleta, central Buenos Aires, as the attacker points a gun at her.

In a statement, Kirchner said she did not realize a gun was pointed at her. She claimed that she only learned of the facts in her apartment.

Argentine Federal Police sources told Fantástico television that forensics on the gun used in the attack on Cristina Kirchner showed that there was ammunition in the magazine, but no bullet was loaded.
