São Paulo’s Cultural Weekend: From Planet Hemp to ‘The Sound of Music’

This weekend, São Paulo’s cultural scene vibrates with music shows featuring big names, Rock Day events, and the debut of a classic musical.

“The Sound of Music” premieres in São Paulo after a successful run in Rio de Janeiro.

Planet Hemp takes center stage in São Paulo with sold-out tickets, recording their DVD “Baseado em Fatos Reais, Planet Hemp 30 anos de Fumaça” at Espaço Unimed. The recording features guest performances by Seu Jorge, Pitty, and Emicida.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the black music ball hosted by Luiz Alberto da Silva, Allianz Parque hosts the Festival Chic Show.

The festival lineup includes Lauren Hill, YG Marley, Criolo, Sandra Sá, and Mano Brown among others.

Additionally, the weekend sees the reopening of the Football Museum, one of São Paulo’s key attractions, with new features.

For movie enthusiasts, there’s also a film tribute to Al Pacino at the CCBB, and the Notre-Dame de Paris exhibition offers an immersive augmented reality journey through the cathedral’s history at the MIS Experience.

• Planet Hemp: Special performance on Thursday, 11th July at 21:30. The band, led by Marcelo D2 and B Negão, will record their anniversary DVD. The show will feature guest artists including Pitty, Seu Jorge, Emicida, and others at Espaço Unimed. Tickets are sold out.
• Fabiana Cozza: Performs on Friday and Saturday, 12th and 13th July at 21:00 at Sesc Vila Mariana, showcasing songs from Nei Lopes. Tickets range from $18 to $60.
• Marcos Valle: Pre-tour performance on Friday, 12th July at 22:00 at Cine Joia, featuring guests like Céu and Emicida. Tickets are $130 to $200.

Festival Chic Show

• Celebrating 50 years of black music, the festival on Saturday, 13th July at 13:45 at Allianz Parque features Lauren Hill and other notable artists. Tickets are $280 to $680.

Museum and Exhibitions

• Football Museum: Reopens with new exhibitions starting 12th July at Praça Charles Miller. Admission is $24.
• Notre-Dame de Paris Exhibition: Starting 14th July at MIS Experience, this augmented reality exhibition explores over 850 years of the cathedral’s history. Tickets are $10 to $30.

Musical

• ‘The Sound of Music’: Runs from 13th to 28th July at Vibra São Paulo. The production features Malu Rodrigues and other stars, with tickets ranging from $39 to $360.
