RUN VDG Party Returns to Alto Vidigal in Rio on April 16th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Delivering the best of underground dance music, the RUN VDG party will return to Alto Vidigal on Saturday, April 16th. During this edition of the event, the Brazilian duo of DJs, Bed & Breakfast, British DJ Jody King and American DJ Tee Cardaci will spin.

An American expatriate, Cardaci is a member of the Botafogo Social Club (BSC), which formerly consisted of five foreign DJs, Cardaci plus fellow American DJ Mike Frugaletti, and British DJs Dan Markham, Jan Roldanus and Doug Gray. The collective made a name for themselves in the city by spinning at Alto Vidigal parties, as well as other venues.

“Alto Vidigal holds a special place in my heart because it was the site of so many Botafogo Social Club parties,” Cardaci told The Rio Times. “I don’t think there’s anywhere better in the city to experience proper underground dance music and a true underground environment. I’m so hyped to be playing up there again!”

Perched above the city in the Vidigal favela community, Alto Vidigal is an Austrian-owned guesthouse that has become well known for its late-night parties and for its breathtaking views of the city including the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon.

Since the early days of the venue hosting parties, extensive renovations have transformed the space to accommodate the large crowds. “The venue is twice the size since the last time I played,” Cardaci added, “and the indoor/outdoor nature of the venue combined with that mental view, especially when the sun comes up, really make this place special.”

To help get people unfamiliar with the area up and down the hill, a shuttle service will be available for R$10 from Leblon (Rua Rita Ludolf, 47) up to the event venue. Otherwise party-goes can take a taxi or bus to the base of Vidigal, and then jump a mototaxi up to the party (pre-negotiate for R$5).

When asked why party-goers should attend the event, DJ Jody King said; “People should be rocking up to Alto Vidigal for RUN-VDG because it is the most incredible party in Rio! The vibe is always so great up there, so many beautiful, smiling, laughing, happy people from all over the world.”

“The music, of course, is always top notch and I understand the sound system has been improved up there so when you put all that together with some delicious caipirinhas you got yourself an awesome night!”

“And that’s not to mention the view,” King, who recently opened an English school in Rocinha favela added. “I think the view is so famous up there now it doesn’t really need explaining how good it is. We will be partying right up until that sunrise which is the icing on the cake. This is the party Ibiza wishes it had!”
