Rio Festa REWIND at Alto Vidigal: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The launch of the Festa REWIND party is happening tonight at Alto Vidigal, at the top of Rio’s Vidigal favela overlooking Leblon and Ipanema. Three DJs and one percussionist will take care of the music, spinning a variety of funk ‘n’ soul, to disco, rare groove and a mix of hits from the 1970s and 1980s.

The venue in Alto Vidigal is a hostel that has become a staple of Rio’s dance party scene with weekend parties. The entire favela, pacified in 2011, offers one of the best views in the city, especially at dawn.

Two out-of-town DJs will make a special appearance. Dani Souto, a musician, composer, producer, musical researcher and DJ from São Paulo who focuses on “música negra,” a combination of jazz, soul, R&B, reggae/Dub, hip hop and rap.

Wash, a DJ and producer from Brasília, features electronic bass in his music with a distinct influence from old school, funk, break, disco, jazz, hip hop, reggae and soul from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

The third DJ is Rio-based, Mike Frugaletti, an American expatriate hailing from San Francisco and founding member of the Botafogo Social Club.

Amazon-born percussionist, Sandro Lustosa, will also be performing at the event, adding a Brazilian flavor to the festivity in between sets.
