Political persecution: Brazilian Justice Gilmar Mendes authorizes search and seizure against parliamentarian

This Tuesday (3), the Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Gilmar Mendes, authorized a search and seizure warrant against federal congresswoman Carla Zambelli (PL-SP).

At the end of December, Zambelli handed over her gun to the Federal Police after Mendes ordered the arrest. Today’s operation would have the objective of collecting other weapons from the parliamentarian’s residence.

The STF’s action against the parliamentarian was requested by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR).

Zambelli became a target of the PGR and the STF for having drawn the gun and chased left-wing militants on the eve of the second round after being cursed and assaulted.

For Justice Gilmar Mendes, there are indications of the use of the weapon “beyond the limits of authorization.”
