On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry also confirmed Peru’s readiness to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

“Peru has supported the decolonization process since 1945 and has maintained its recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic since 1984, despite the suspension of relations between 1996 and 2021,” the Foreign Ministry said on the social network.

The SADR is a state with limited recognition located in Western Sahara, a territory south of the Kingdom of Morocco, which de facto occupies the territory.

The Foreign Ministry also pointed out that it holds a “historic and unchanging” position in favor of Argentina in the conflict with the United Kingdom over the Malvinas Islands, but this does not preclude bilateral relations of “dialogue and full cooperation” with the European country.
