Paraguayan truck drivers mobilize against fuel hikes
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Paraguayan truck drivers carried out a mobilization on April 18, where they blocked several routes in the country to demand, among other issues, a decrease in fuel price.
The call was made by the Truckers’ Association, which announced the closure of five national routes from 05:00 AM (local time). The organization of the mobilizations took place during the meeting held on April 17 in Caacupé.
The arteries closed during the day of protests were: route PY01 (Asunción-Encarnación); route PY02 (Asunción-Coronel Oviedo); route PY03 (Asunción-Bella Vista); route PY09 (Asunción-Boquerón); and route PY12 (Chaco’ i-Gral. Bruguez).
The transportation sector is discontented with the agreement reached with the Technical Committee, where a price was fixed for the agro-exporting structures.
The National Police forces secured the announced points and others where new mobilizations took place. Eight departments were affected by the protests.
