More flight routes between Argentina and Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Aerolíneas Argentinas, Argentina’s state-owned flag carrier, continues to progress in developing routes focused explicitly on the recovery of the country’s inbound tourism.

In this sense, it has been announcing a series of international routes connecting mainly Buenos Aires with Brazil, a market in which it places all its confidence, considering the historical two-way tourist relationship, the regional proximity, and, above all, Argentina’s exchange rate advantages.

In this context, the company announced that from July, it would start operating three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays) between São Paulo City and the province of Salta, in the north of the southern country, which at that time will be in its high season.

They also explained that this operation would have an almost immediate connection with the neighboring northern province of Tucumán, “thus creating a corridor between the three cities”, according to the president of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Pablo Ceriani, who made the presentation together with the governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz. Also present were the company’s commercial director, Fabián Lombardo, and the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Salta, Mario Peña.

“The Brazilian market is strategic for us, as there is a great interest to visit different parts of Argentina. This new route means expanding the offer from Brazil to Argentina, which is beneficial both for the province of Salta and for the country because it results in foreign currency income for the whole sector,” said Ceriani.

Governor Sáenz said that this is a “historic route for Salta” and asserted that it results from “good teamwork and understanding with Aerolíneas”. “It is a truly federal view of air connectivity,” added the provincial president.

It is worth remembering that the company already flies daily frequencies to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Florianópolis from Buenos Aires, and also to Salvador de Bahia, both from Buenos Aires and Córdoba; and that it announced the return of connections to Brasilia, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre, for purely receptive purposes.
