Lacalle Pou is being accused of having spied on his ex-wife, First Lady Lorena Ponce de León

In the midst of one of the most shocking scandals in recent times in Uruguay, which involves a series of criminal acts by President Lacalle Pou‘s personal custodian, Alejandro Astesiano, now a complaint has been added for having spied on Lorena Ponce de León, the ex-wife of the president, just two months after their separation.

This week, a chat spread by journalists from El Observador on their social networks was leaked, in which it is evident that Astesiano asked the deputy executive director of the Police, Jorge Berriel, for personal information about the first lady.

The request sought to know the destination of a private trip by “Loli” on July 4, two months after the president announced his separation from her. Finally it was learned that this trip was to Miami. It is unknown why the president requested this espionage, and if it was the only time he used the intelligence services of the State to follow his ex-wife; although from the tone used in the conversations, it would not appear to be.

The entire controversial conversation that Astesiano had with the deputy executive director of the Police, Jorge Berriel, took place between the night of July 3 and the early morning of the following day, where he asked the police chief to investigate the destination of the First Lady’s trip.

The next morning, Astesiano had another conversation with Lorena Ponce de León‘s guard, who either lied or did not really know the flight plan for her target. “They are at the airport. Apparently, because of the flights, she is going to Peru,” replied the custodian of the president’s former partner.

“Yes, I have everything now,” wrote Astesiano, and then gave details of the plane that Lacalle Pou’s ex-partner was taking. “I know that you get everything,” he responded enthusiastically with many emojis.

In other messages, it can be seen that the First Lady’s guardian conveyed to Astesiano his fear of losing his job for helping him spy on her, but that he was determined to be loyal to him. “To order and always loyal,” he greeted him at one point.

Astesiano, who is currently charged with falsifying documents to grant passports to Russian citizens, a criminal network that operated from the Government House, was investigated on this issue on December 12 (although the information was only recently leaked to the public).

Before the 12th Shift Flagrance prosecutor, Gabriela Fossati, Astesiano said that the first lady had not reported the destination or the date of her trip and that this worried Lacalle Pou, who “was facing a complicated separation from the media” and he did not wanted to leave “anything to chance.”

In several sections of his statement, Astesiano emphasized that his job was to provide security for the president’s family regardless of whether or not the president was separated from the first lady.

How did Astesiano find out that Ponce de León was going on a private trip to Miami? In his statement to the Prosecutor’s Office, Astesiano recounted that he found out through one of the custodians dedicated to escort her, but now we know that he lied, that he actually did it through the deputy executive director of the Police, Jorge Berriel.
