PRODUCTION

In January’s nine working days of activity that the automotive industry had due to plant shutdowns due to vacations and production line adjustments, local terminals produced 18,651 vehicles, including automobiles and light commercial vehicles. This figure represents a 23.3% drop compared to the same month last year (24,308 units in 17 working days).

The positive fact to highlight in the context mentioned above is the 52% increase in the daily production volume compared to January 2021 (2,180 units versus 1,430).

Last month, the sector destined abroad 9,298 units, that is, 22% less than in January last year, when 11,924 vehicles were sent to other markets.

A comparison with the last month of 2021 (19,615 units exported) shows a 52.6% decrease.

WHOLESALE SALES

During January, automakers sold 20,147 vehicles to the dealer network, an amount 26.2% lower than in the same month of 2021 (32,723 units) and 38.4 percent less than in December of that year, when 32,723 units went to the network.

“We are starting a year of many challenges. Although we are projecting significant increases in the main variables for this year and are working towards this, we are attentive to monitor what will happen with the supply of semiconductors and the logistic limitations that may arise”, said Martín Galdeano, president of ADEFA.
