Historic Pact denounces fraud in vote count in Colombia

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Colombian electoral coalition Pacto Histórico denounced what it qualified as irregularities and the existence of a gigantic fraud that would have been registered in the legislative and primary elections of last Sunday, March 13, with extension all over the country and facilities abroad.

According to the reports of the electoral witnesses of the Historical Pact, among the facts, it is specified that the Registrar’s Office did not inform 1,079 tables; in 29,425 votes of the Historical Pact were not registered; 801 tables were found which are not registered in the official Electoral Authority in the consulates and 23,072 where double-counting was presented, among others.

Also, Gustavo Petro, leader and presidential candidate of the Historical Pact, said that his organization would denounce the facts of this Sunday before national and international organizations.

According to the electoral advisors of the Historical Pact, these facts explain the difference between the 4.5 million votes obtained by Petro in the internal consultation and the 2.3 million in the vote for the Senate of the Historical Pact.

The Historic Pact highlights, in that sense, that the 29,425 tables that did not register votes constitute more than 25% of the vote, “something impossible to believe”, said the coalition of leftist parties and organizations.

Furthermore, they added that with the fraud discovered, at least five more Senate seats are at stake, which, explained representatives of the Historical Pact, “we began to fight in the scrutinies and before all the international electoral oversight bodies”.

This situation reaffirms the serious denunciations made with the cases presented abroad with the delay in the provision of data, and the problems in the different consulates and the malfunctioning of the page of the Registraduría, especially during the election day and also the failures in the registration of cédulas, reason for which some people could not exercise their vote.
