Fiat Strada leads Brazil’s ranking of best-selling new vehicles in 2021
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Fiat Strada was the best-selling new vehicle in Brazil in 2021, according to data released Thursday, January 6, by the National Federation of Automotive Vehicles Distribution (FENABRAVE).
From January through December last year, 109,107 units of the pickup were sold nationwide, the only vehicle to surpass the 100,000 mark.

The Strada has put an end to the Chevrolet Onix hegemony, the best seller in Brazil for 6 consecutive years. In 2021, 73,623 units of the hatch were sold, a 45% drop compared to 2020.
With the drop, Onix ranked only 5th in the list released by FENABRAVE, behind Hyundai HB20 (86,455), FIat Argo (84,644) and Jeep Renegade (73,913).
With the Strada’s strong performance, Fiat was the brand with the most vehicles sold in Brazil in 2021, with 431,035, equivalent to a 21.83% market share. Volkswagen, whose most sold car was the Gol, came in second, with 302,270 units sold. GM (242,108) and Hyundai (184,284) round out the top 5.
2021 will hardly be remembered as a positive year by the national automotive industry. The sector faced several challenges, such as chip shortages and plant shutdowns due to the health restrictions imposed by the pandemic. In addition, the high dollar made it more expensive to import vital components and materials.
