SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – A couple and a two-year-old child were found dead at home in Guarulhos, greater São Paulo. The parents lit a barbecue inside the room to fight the cold, and the police believe that they died of asphyxiation after inhaling the smoke.

The police were called in by neighbors. On entering the property, the police found no signs of violence but saw the barbecue lit. The man was lying on the bed with the child, and the woman was lying on the floor next door.

The Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) was called, but the victims were already dead.

Forensics will determine the cause of death.
