Morgan Snell Exhibition in Rio, Beginning Oct 5th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Centro Cultural do Correios will present seventy works of art by Morgan Snell after nearly forty years since her last exhibition in Paris. The exhibition will open at the cultural center on Wednesday, October 5th and will continue until Sunday, December 4th.

The exhibition will display an incredible retrospective of Snell’s work selected by curator Marc Pottier, showcasing drawings, paintings and sculptures that capture Snell’s originality and innovative eye to art. The public will have the opportunity to revisit the production of this unique artist who placed the human body and nudity at the core of her work.

Morgan Snell (1920-2007) was a Brazilian self-taught artist who, through careful and detailed observation of people around her, was able to replicate the human form in intimate details in her work. Her time in Europe from 1946 was greatly influential to her art with the art of great masters from French and Italian museums reflecting through her pieces.

Snell’s art captures an essence of Greek mythology while simultaneously presenting elements of Brazil through her choice of colors and tropical flora details. Her subjects are almost always nude men and women that seem to defy all laws of gravity.

The first exhibition of Morgan Snell was in Rio de Janeiro was in 1946 at the Barcinski Gallery. Since then, her works have been exhibited throughout Europe in major cities such as Paris, Rome and Munich, as well as several exhibitions in Brazil.

This exhibtion in Centro Cultural dos Correios in Rio de Janeiro’s city center will open Wednesday, October 5th and run until Sunday, December 4th. The exhibition will be open Tuesday until Sunday from 12PM until 7PM.
